...apple tree at winter, can you see who's feeding?...
So many squirrels in the neighborhood hopping from tree to tree, climbing on fences. electric cables and roofs, some even running across the streets.
These shots were my first encounter on squirrels here one cold morning as I was catching some sun by the hall balcony. This little fella came down from the roof and hopped on to the screen curtain along the balcony leading down the rails and on to the smaller trees in the courtyard. It's amazing how it managed to cleverly plan it's way to the apple tree. Seeing it in action made me grab my camera and stole some shots while it's feeding on some apples. I had to really be sneaky and quiet not to startle this hungry squirrel.

See that green background right there? That's the screen curtain where this squirrel climbs down to get into the courtyard. This squirrel sure knows where to pose, I was able to capture a shot with a nice background and good natural lighting! :)
After the apple frenzy, it hopped from branch to branch down from the tree and off to its course to the roof. It's probably gonna feed on some other fruits by the neighbors' trees. So long little squirrel, see you again when the apple tree blooms!

Hello dear Ayie!
Adorable post! The second shot is fabulous and perfect to illustrate this post! Here in Brazil we don't have this privilege to meet cute squirrels like you there! Cool!
Great title as well!
Kind regards
Léia
Hi sweet Leia, thanks so much. You met with squirrels too when you went here in US for travel, right? I still can remember your post in your blog about those cute squirrels that you photographed.
I derived the title remembering how sneaky that squirrel was that day he fed on the apples. =)
Take care!
I love the second photo too! Very good shot! :)
I love that one too Lina! Thanks! I tried to be careful enough not to scare him away or else I'll miss my chance! =D
here we have trouble with squirrels destroying durians, rambutans and other fruits too. but as photo enthusiast i jus like you would love to take their pic. two weeks ago i accidently 'shot' a monkey stealing bananas and then running away when it saw me. :)
Bengbeng, I want to see that shot! It's the same thing here with squirrels just that not everybody pays attention to their fruits. In the tropics, fruits are well anticipated.
i can only see the squirrels in the forest!!! never in the park like here in malaysia >.<
wow, what an amazing shot you have in the 2nd photo Ayie, I really love it. The eyes of the squirrel happily munching on the apples is just fantastic to watch.
Wow at least they get to jump from trees to trees at your place.. at my place, they round on roads :/ and drains.
run i mean lol... not round :P
Hi Fufu, nice to have you here. Thanks for the visit.
Squirrels are everywhere here, there's even one who routinely crosses the street in the afternoon and had to be very careful driving til it fully crossed the road.
No squirrels in Phil., I didn't know M'sia has. =)
Thanks Betchai! Now that I look closely to the squirrel's eye, no doubt about enjoying the apple.
Ladyviral, I like the sight of them jumping from trees and plants around and not the drains. I don't like it when they run on the road, too dangerous coz the other day I saw a dead squirrel.
Great shots and a good post. I enjoy the squirrels around my house.
:/ ours hide in the drains alot... that is the only place they can be.. else it be on the road.. yes it is dangerous, saw a few dead ones at my place too. poor little things :(.
Cute squirrel! Can give my cute panda a run for its money! Haha!
I have squirrels in my garden, but never take any shots of them. Maybe one day if I'm quick enough cos they always run very fast! : )
This is simply amazing photography art. Squirrels appear so cute in your images. Great captures in deed!
nice shots!
using the fancy camera instead of mobile phone's this time? ;)
i sure love to own one to be able to take
a photograph like yours here. :D
Hie Ayie! Wow! Nice shots. How come all of you managed to capture beautiful shots? The squirrel is really adorable.
I realised the second shot where the squirrel notice you but just don't care because it has something to crack! :D
i didnt get the shot of the squirrel. It was too well hidden. But I got a shot of the monkey stealing fruits two weeks ago.
Carver, I appreciate the compliments. I enjoy seeing the squirrels too....sometimes I even wait for them. =)
Ladyviral, that's why I heard squirrels there are considered rodents (like rats) they hang around the drains and sewers. But M'sia has a lot in the forest right?

Foong, you and your panda haha! Maybe you should have a real panda as a pet. What do you think?
Take some pics and post it so I can see it too! demanding? You must have a nice fruity garden for them to enjoy running around there.
Roentarre, wow...thanks! Yey, I'm so happy to hear that from a pro like you. I find the squirrels cute that's why I always try to capture some shots whenever I get a chance. =)
Levian, no mobile cam for this. The cam was very accessible here at home. I don't know how good is this cam for the professionals, this might just be a regular basic cam for them. hehehe all I want is to shoot whatever cam i have. Perhaps we ask the experts like Ai Shiang, Mei teng and Roentarre with the cam...they know a lot. It's a panasonic DMC-I-Z10, 36x digital zoom, 12x optical, 4.0 mpx. Didin't know it's 36x by 12x zoom...til today! *lol*
Hi Tekkaus, thanks...it's talent my dear! hahaha just kidding! I have high passion for photography and been taking pictures since I was a kid, maybe that's why. But that's nothing professional, just photography hobby. The subject is adorable itself so that makes the shot extra special!
I'm pretty sure the squirrel noticed me because the first shot was taken infront our unit and I had to walk on the other side to have a better view. That alone was noticeable enough for this little fella to run away. Good thing the apple's tasty enough to keep the squirrel ignoring me. =P
Bengbeng, I'd like to see that too in your blog. I hope you'll consider posting that too. Somehow I find nature and animals very refreshing to see in people's photo blogs. Don't you agree with that?
Wow nice shots Ayie!! you're pretty good at photography ;-)
Hi Ayie ganda, Woah....nice shots. I like the 2nd pic. The lighting is just right. What clear blue skies you have over there. So pretty. :)
Monica, thanks dearie! Just a lucky shot =)
Sexy Mummy Gwen =) thanks for the compliments...most esp for the Ganda part! hahaha From now on I'll call you sexy, since I'm so amazed with the tiny skirt you sewed and passed on to gwen.
That background isn't sky...it's the green screen on the back side of the tree. It made a good effect on the pic though.
looks like the squirrel is having fun munching the apples. very well captured.
Hi Ramblings! The squirrel was really busy with the apples, it didn't even run away when it saw me around. Thanks!
Enjoy your weekend!
no worries, we don't always have to own the best.
imagine how tiring it would be us to always wanna beat everyone else!
even with a mobile phone's camera,
i am sure we can capture something cool
as long as our heart is in it. ;)
I agree Levian...I'll take pictures as long as I want and whatever's available at that time. It's better than missing a shot you badly want to shoot waiting for the best or right camera on hand. =)
exactly!
with that interest in hand,
we own a whole lot more treasures in hand. :D
