Ayie
After a little craft project breakie, I'm following through my Air Museum experience. I'm more excited to feature something different than all the plane exhibits they have. Good thing hubs pointed out and really made me check this cool history corner, now I can say "Girls Rule!"

Remember Amelia Earhart, the first woman to fly across the atlantic? "My ambition is to have this wonderful gift produce practical results for the future of commercial flying and for the women who may want to fly tomorrow's planes." This is among her famous quotes. Just to give you more hints about her.

I don't know who among you knew about this, and if you do feel free to share your knowledge. As we were browsing through all the displays, one history corner caught my husband's attention. He was there for a while and me having so much fun with the camera didn't even bother go and check what he's up to. Later on he called on and asked me to to take photos of what he's been reading. Okay, I was forced to check it out. hehe... me being the lazy reader didn't want to even look at it but when he told me it's about lady pilots and army then it caught my attention.

Let me introduce the great ladies who made history in United States Army Air Force during WWII. Yes you read it right, women! They were called WASP or the Women Airforce Service Pilots, civilian female pilots for military aircraft during that time. They played a big role in freeing male pilot for combat service and duties. For more detailed info, check it out here.

After seeing all the photos and checking the wiki link, what can you say about those brave ladies? Amazing, right?

amazing indeed ayie, thanks to them for making the way for other women to face their fears, gain courage and pursue their dreams. i did not know much about them, and i thank you for sharing them to us.

  2. Carver Says:

    They were amazing. Interesting post.

  3. Ayie Says:

You're welcome betchai...I'll share your thanks and remarks with hubs, he's the one who gave attention to the articles. =P

I was in awe when he was explaining to me what he read there so I thought yes this is a good thing to share in my blog =)

You being on those hikes betchai also amazes me, you're such a tough lady. How about flying, will you consider?

  4. Ayie Says:

Thank you carver, very amazing ladies indeed.

  5. JIF Hub Says:

What also caught my attention when I was reading the display was the fact that these brave women not only trained men pilots to prepare for battle, but also the fact that they tested airplanes as well! I would not be surprised if some of these ladies underwent secret missions given there involvement with the WASP program. Incredible. They should make a documentary/movie on this if there isn't one already.

  6. Tekkaus Says:

This is different from the previous one. Yeah! Thank goodness your hub points out this. :D

  7. Tekkaus Says:

Amelia? Is it the Amelia which we saw in Night at The Museum 2? She is indeed amazing right? Talking about girl power. Hehe :D

  8. Tekkaus Says:

WASP! Yeah! Now who says ladies can't do what men can?

  9. Ayie Says:

So what do you think of the ladies tekkaus?

I'll have one more part for the final installment of this series. I still have a lot of photos of the other museum exhibits =)

  10. Ayie Says:

Tekkaus, the eclipse will be in a while right? will you be watching it?

  11. Ayie Says:

tekkaus, also... I'm having prob with your commenting. I was there earlier and left comments but it's not appearing. How's that?

  12. Ayie Says:

OOops, haven't watched part 2. You can click on her name to see her site. Maybe that can help you with your question.

  13. Ayie Says:

Jifdc thanks for that! I agree with the documentary, better check if they have already.

  14. lina Says:

  21. ladyviral Says:

Yes definitely amazing! The ladies have made us other ladies proud!

If this comment makes it yippee! If it doesn't I will say "Sorry it isn't that I have not been going by blogs, but cause I have tried to leave comments and it keeps going an abort mission!" :)

So forgive me if this made it to be commented but not the rest.

  22. lina Says:

Seems like the eclipse is quite a non-event here in Malaysia compared to Japan and China.

  23. lina Says:

    Ayie,
foong would know better as he blogs about it. :D

  24. I can't fly anymore. should have done that when I was single. Dang! :P

  28. Ayie Says:

Hi zen or do you prefer kulasa? hehe

I better watch Museum 2, we weren't able to catch the last week so dvd will be our last resort =)

  30. Ayie Says:

Ramblings you mean WW (wordless Wednesday)? Hmmm, sometimes I'm off sched but I'll give it a try! I actually have some photos in which I don't know what to write! *lol*

Hehehe let's see if any guys will react with our "girl power" here!

  31. Ayie Says:

Ladyviral, the ladies featured here are truly remarkable. With all due respect, I'm so proud to know about this part of history!

    tnx =)

  32. Ayie Says:

Lina, you're right...I guess we'll just have to wait for foong's eclipse update!

We checked out the videos from india, china and japan...considering it's rainy season in asia, most footages are way too cloudy.

  33. Ayie Says:

ECL, so you'll consider being a pilot? wow, you rock!

  34. Ayie Says:

Foong, maybe 1 more to finish the installment =) it's hard to compress and choose from 300 photos, would you agree?

There's a link to amelia earhart in case you want to check her out more.

Changing subjects, will you have an eclipse update in your blog? =)

  35. Ayie Says:

Ramblings, do I have to join anywhere to participate in WW or I just need to title my post as WW? =D

  36. levian Says:

yes, i did. it was fabulous!
they were much more stronger compare to us in the recent days.
definitely something for us to look up to. :)

  37. Kim Says:

  40. lina Says:

Evening Ayie! I just had breakfast.

Time for dinner yet there? :)

    TGIF! Wohoo!!!

  41. levian Says:

i went to a talk yesterday, n she mentioned something about
why is it most of the time, guys are the more successful ones.
n it was our emotions that got into the way.
    it makes perfect sense,
but of course it doesn't mean women doesn't have facts or can't handle,
we just have to get ourselves emotionally figured out first
before able to achieve something as big as these women had succeeded in. :D

  42. Ayie Says:

Hi Lina! Good morning here now =) yes it was almost dinner time when you messaged yesterday =P

Happy weekend to you and your family! We'll have a fun one too..hehe =)

  43. Ayie Says:

Levian, in a way true but I've met a lot of ladies who are very strong willed. It could be one big factor but everybody conquers their own weaknesses at some point, right? I believe everybody can succeed, just put your mind and heart into it. I also work in the men's field and I'm happy that in a way I can cope up with it. Thanks for sharing about the talk =)

  44. Ayie,
you may join WW whenever you like. leave your link if you’re playing on that particular day.

    http://www.wordlesswednesday.com/

    happy weekend.

  45. Ayie Says:

Hi Ramblings!! I'll do when I'm ready! Thanks =)

    Enjoy your fabulous weekend too!

  46. levian Says:

wow, what happened to photobucket? "upgrade to pro"?
indeed, since in the newer generation,
we are almost in the same "level" as guys, as they put it.
that kinda pushed us forward while striving higher. :)

  47. Ayie Says:

Hi Ramblings! I have a WW post up already now =)

  48. Ayie Says:

Levian, Dunno what happened with the template...hubs said it exceeded something I forgot...hehe I tried fixing things but had to change the template myself. What do you think?

Guys shouldn't treat girls as weak and incapable, girls can do what guys do too =)

  49. levian Says:

    exceed the bandwidth?
nice, n again, a refreshing template!
i love the flowery drawings, especially, on top. :D

  50. levian Says:

oh, btw, i have having trouble after typing the captcha,
there are no "post comment" buttons to press,
i have to tab multiple times before i am able to reach the bottom.
i think it is caused by the scroll bar being our of the boundary, thus not showing.
your food blog doesn't have this problem. :)

  51. levian Says:

opps typo, "out" of the boundary. :p

  52. Ayie Says:

sorry about all the commenting ruckus yesterday Levian and to everybody who tried commenting. The whole photojournal got messed up for some reason and after fixing and changing template, that captcha thingie was acting up. Somebody fixed it for me already last night, thanks for being patient and still trying despite the troubles.

  53. Ayie Says:

I love the new template too =)

  54. levian Says:

am glad that everything went back to normal now.
having no trouble scrolling down the page to fill in the captcha anymore.
    ah, love,
that pretty much explains why you chose it. ;)

  55. Ayie Says:

glad to hear no more troubles...that gave me a relief
