Do you love cheesecakes, cakes or any sweet treats as dessert? How often do you eat such treats? My doctor told me to stay away from sugars so I only eat minimal desserts and sweets. Nope I'm not diabetic, just some minor food regulations that I have to follow.

I was inspired to post this since Merryn blog about her Cheater's Bake and we might have something to celebrate here soon. Actually, she did more work than I did. This one must be a super cheat I should say! hahaha! I made this cheesecake from scratch, yes from scratch...take note. hehe but it all came from just one box too and not many separate ingredients. Just a few additions here and there, it became a cheesecake!

Ok, ok...I'll go straight to the point. I made this using a cheesecake mix. =) We were in the supermarket one time and I saw that cheesecake package. It stole my attention thinking I can make cheesecake for my hubs without getting all the necessary ingredients. All I need is just one box and few add ons and that's it. I was too curious to let go of the box mix so one sunday I worked on my magic bake. Well, this is actually a no-bake cake. It's just a plain refrigerated cake to begin with that's why I said it's a super cheat. =) It turned out ok but of course not the authentic cheesecake taste. I added some cream cheese and milk to reduce sweetness and modified according to our taste. I think it only took me 20-30mins doing the cake then it's off to the fridge. These are just last of the slices. I totally forgot to document it because I was sneaking not to be seen by my hubs. I wanted to surprise him with a cheesecake and I was successful! I served him these slices, one plain and one with blackberry jam. The sweet and sour taste of the fruity jam gave a lot more flavor to the plain simple cheesecake. It was addicting that's why hubs asked for more but we finished it all after a week. =)

Thanks for the hints! : )

  2. foongpc Says:

I love cheesecakes! Yummy!! But I also like you - try to cut down on sugary, sweet stuffs. So not too much of cakes, but I believe in indulging once in a while : )

  3. foongpc Says:

So your hubby didn't know you cheated on the cake? Hehe. Very sleepy now, must sleep! Good nite from my Malaysia! : )

  4. Ayie Says:

Yey...foong was able to stay up til this time =)

  5. Mummy Gwen Says:

Looks so yummy, ganda. You should explain in more detail how you made the cheese cake...hehe

  6. Ayie Says:

Yeah foong, too much sugar is bad for health. I also just indulge every now and then.

Hubs knew about the cheat cake, we were together when we bought it and he chose the plain cheesecake mix. Making the cake was the surprise part. hehe

  7. Ayie Says:

Goodnight to you Foong and sleep tight =)

Hi mummy sexy! Still up? How about beauty rest?

  8. Ayie Says:

Mummy sexy, there's nothing much to explain...i just mixed everything. haha! It came with 2 mixes, one for filling and one for crust.

Crust was just crushed honey graham added with melted butter...mixmix and voila!

Filling was another powder mix, added milk, softened cream cheese (not required but I still did to give a little more realistic cheesecake taste) and I think that's it.

Put together and place in fridge...off we eat!

  9. oh my dear Ayie!
You have so many talents! It looks yummy indeed! Great idea for a desert.Just I will try but I'm not good with these stuffs of cooking! :)
btw, when I was pregnant of my daughter Marina, in that time it was necessary to cut down on sugary!
God bless you and be always happy !

  10. Ayie Says:

Leia, always so kind with your words. Haha, that's a cheat talent. I'm not much of a baker...I think anybody can do this cheesecake. It was really easy, just like making pancakes! Better try, you can do it too maybe even better =)

Pregnant women should be less on sweets...prone to diabetis. Thanks for sharing!

  11. betchai Says:

your cheesecake looks so yummy Ayie. I love cheesecake, like you, i eat dessert in moderation, once in a bluemoon :) even though my doctor don't say so, but just try to discipline myself otherwise i can finish all the cake :)

  12. Ayie Says:

Betchai, thanks! Even when I wasn't advised yet by by doctor, I chose not to indulge in much sweets. It's all about discipline, you're right! How's been your trip? I've been reading your new posts...hehe I take time reading (and still reading!) haha.

  13. Tekkaus Says:

Super duper cheat cheesecake huh! :D Wow! You only need 30 minutes to prepare for this. Now that is rather simple huh! I like to eat cheesecakes too. Usually I will but those from Secret Recipe!

  14. Tekkaus Says:

Then again I think I could try to buy the "magic box" one day and I try it. Who knows...perhaps it could taste better than the ones sold outside. LOL :D

    Anyway thanks for sharing Ayie!

  15. Ayie Says:

Tekkaus, good cheat don't you think so? I only spent like a dollar or two and we had a small sized cheesecake! Convincing enough?

When I want to eat the real thing, I go to cheesecake factory =) Maybe in time I will do a real cheesecake and not from the magic box anymore! haha!

You're welcome, thanks for checking here =)

  16. Ayie Says:

tekkaus btw, it's late there already right?

  17. Mariuca Says:

Oh my! Monica mentioned cheesecake yesterday and now here! I so feel like a slice right now Ayie! :)

  18. Mariuca Says:

And u made this yourself? I've never made a cheesecake before!

  19. Ayie Says:

Mariuca maybe you should really have a slice, it will be a nice treat. Looking at it makes me crave too. =)

  20. Ayie Says:

Yup, but that's a mix already so it's a cheat cake. I googled how to make and it's also easy and simple, so maybe you should give it a try. =) What do you think?

  21. lina Says:

Ayie!!! You are making me hungry...

Oh gosh... I'm salivating over the cheesecake...

  22. lina Says:

I love sweets, cakes, candies, chocolates... but I try not to take too much. It is hard though... :D

  23. levian Says:

    the cake looks so alluring!
congratulation on the successful surprise for your hubs. :D
i am no big fan of cheese cake, the extreme sweetness made me dizzy.
but i do like stealing a bite here n there
whenever someone close with me is having them. :p

  24. ladyviral Says:

oooh cheesecake! I love cheesecakes... I am not every cake person but cheesecakes yummy! Except the chocolate types. Ah yes and the cheesesake you made looks good and I don't get a slice T_T. Your hubs and you finished it in a week >_<.

I demand for one! hahaha kidding. Good job making it! <3

  25. Merryn Says:

ah? so easy? super duper cheating? LOL... but i dun see those around here in malaysia. looks lovely. i'll definitely give a sharper look when i go shopping next time around. thanx ayie! :D

  26. Ice Says:

I have never tried making cheesecake myself. Though, I have always been told that it is not hard. Now, you convinced me to give it a try.

Any leftover for me? :o) Looks absolutely delicious.

  27. Mummy Gwen Says:

Thanks for the detailed explanation..hehe. Just to say Thanks ganda for the 2nd vote. Good night!!

  28. Ayie Says:

Lina, so you're a sweet tooth! Eating minimal and moderately isn't bad but I know it's hard to resist when you really crave for it. =) Do you bake or make desserts too?

  29. Ayie Says:

Levian, maybe you should get newyork cheesecake or something plain not with much chocolates and additions. I like cheesecake because it's not so sweet, I can taste the cream cheese. try cheesecake factory but stay away from the overly chocolatey cakes. =)

  30. Ayie Says:

Ladyviral, come visit me here and we'll make cheesecakes! haha! it's just a small sized cake like the petite so I'm not surprised we finished it in a week or a few days more. Thanks! you can make some too and better share it! haha at least the pics!

  31. Ayie Says:

    willie, yup...it's yummy! hehe

  32. Ayie Says:

Merryn, ssssshhhhh...not too loud on super duper cheat. I also had my fair amount of work, I changed the recipe and didn't just use the mix. =) but I admit, it's a cheat cake still! haha

Have a sharper eye and try looking around more, maybe you can spot a special mix for cheesecake. I'll wait for your post if you happen to make one =) Thanks for coming over

  33. Ayie Says:

Sorry Ai, hubs is a sweet tooth...he was even asking for more! haha! We had it as dessert every after dinner =) Perhaps next time =P

It's easy even if you google an original recipe. I just didn't want to get a whole bunch of ingredients that time so I gave the mix a try =)

share us your cheesecake ok!? =D

  34. Ayie Says:

Goodnight Mummy sexy! No sweat, haha! You're welcome. =)

  35. Carver Says:

I love cheesecake. That looks so good.

  36. Ayie Says:

Carver, same here i love the unique cheesecake taste. Glad you like it, thanks.

  37. i've always loved cheesecakes. but then, i'm quite health conscious, so i tend not to take that much these days.

  39. foongpc Says:

Reading the comments here, I think everyone loves cheese cake! I'm going to eat one today : )

  40. lina Says:

  41. It must be tasty. I had thought of getting one a couple of weeks back, but we ended up with half a dozen of different variety instead.

I must eat one today :)

Kanda Bhaji from Sinhgadh (AKA Sinhgad, Sinhagad, Sinhagadh)

  42. Ayie Says:

Hi Ramblings, looks like everybody here loves cheesecake and most of us are health conscious too =)

I hope we can get some rest this weekend, it's been so busy lately. Enjoy your family weekends! Nytnyt!

  43. Ayie Says:

Lina, same here with the lazy part! (buying is way easier and faster sometimes even cheaper) haha! I'm too impatient waiting for the "baking" part but I'm trying simple bakes now. We have a big working oven so might as well use it =)

  44. Ayie Says:

Foong, did you have one? Plain or something special?

  45. Ayie Says:

Bhavesh Chhatbar, hi! thanks for your visit here. Cheesecake is definitely tasty so I encourage you to have one too =) Have a good day!

  46. Ayie Says:

Hi guys and girls, enjoy your weekends a'right!

  47. Bengbeng Says:

U evil person ;) I was so busy last night I didnt have dinner and it is 7am in Malaysia now and I havent had a bite. The first thing I did when i woke up was answer comments n I came to yr blog n see this cake... positively torture. Looks so yummy. If i had more time on my hands I should try this. It looks not too difficult.

  48. Ayie Says:

Hahaha Bengbeng, why haven't you eaten? That's bad, you shouldn't be skipping meals no matter how busy you are. hehe

Maybe my post reminds you to take a bite and eat something coz your hunger pangs are growling already =P

Not that hard most esp if you try working on the ready mix. It's also fun to do it, lots of filling tasting until you get the perfect cheesecake taste. *LOL*

  49. It looks good! If it's yummy, who cares if it's a cake mix. :)

  50. ladyviral Says:

me? bake?! I cooked failure :P. Let me make cooking perfect first.. then I will start on baking hahaha. And of course I will definitely share my failures and success in my cooking :P.

  51. levian Says:

    is cheesecake factory a brand?
i will start looking out for newyork cheesecake if i were to have cakes in the future.
the extreme sweetness has always been the reason for me to stick to
the gooey chocolate mouse cake. :p

  52. Ayie Says:

Hive five to you ECL! I was surprised that it tastes ok already as a plain mix before i even modified and added some ingredients. =)

  53. Ayie Says:

Ladyviral, I will wait for those posts then! =)

  54. Ayie Says:

Levian, Cheesecake Factory is a specialty cake house here. I'm not sure if you have it in M'sia too. I love choc mousse! That's one of my fave! OOOhh, I'm craving so bad now!

  55. levian Says:

opps, i hope i am not guilty for planting that in your head. :p
ah, we don't have it here,
the most common ones would be Secret Recipe or just cafes,
like Starbucks or Coffee bean's. :)

  56. Ayie Says:

hmmm, i think secret recipe's good. Was it foong who mentioned he'll grab a cake there? hehe I might be mistaken but some blogger did mention it =)

  57. Monica Says:

oh I def love cheesecakes Ayie!! YUMMYYYYY :-D

    it was creamily delicious,
    with real mango! :D

  62. Ayie Says:
