The moon was really amazingly beautiful, glowing brightly against the dark gray sky.  I had a very basic point and shoot at that moment so I took the best shot that I could.

I was browsing through the photos then I saw this one.  Baby happened to see his inflatable ring and wanted to play with it again so I gave him the freedom to enjoy it in the tub.  Yes, it is just the bath tub!

I was captivated when I looked up the sky and saw the white clouds stretched all over as if the sky was painted.  It's like looking at an abstract painting, only way up there and not on a canvass.

Falling Water is among the great architecture of all time by the master Frank Lloyd Wright.  This will be one of our travel stop once we start going and exploring more places.  Imagine a house built on natural scape with water running and all the trees surrounding it.

I once painted that same photo above during my college years and gave it as a gift to someone dear to me.  I wonder if they kept it hanging on their wall because if not, I wouldn't mind having it back.  hahaha

Me and hubs had the pleasure of replicating the model of this house, using Lego.  It's not ours but his officemate's.  It was given by their boss as a birthday present since the guy is a big fan of this architecture.  Being a fan doesn't mean you'd be willing to submit yourself doing lego building so the job of "constructing" it went to hubs.  Actually, I was the builder and he was the material sorter and supplier, as well as control supervisor.  We carefully followed every step and he would check every procedures done.  Finally after few hours of building, we accomplished the task.  We have built our very first Fallingwater.  Hubs plan to make a time lapse video as we documented every step from scratch.  I will definitely post it once it's done.

This street food can be seen almost all over Philippines.  Who wouldn't love the crispy fried battered egg?  Hubs love this and he's been missing to eat some so I decided to make him a good stick of kwek-kwek one time.  Quail eggs here can be bought 10pcs or a dozen a $1.  For tiny little eggs, I find that quite pricey.  I happened to see some in the farmer's market so I made sure I grabbed some for our afternoon merienda.  I didn't have any food coloring so I improvised.  Instead of buying food color I used powdered cheddar cheese to color the flour, that way it also added much flavor to the batter.  I think I made 2 sticks, one for me and one for hubs of course.  Baby was napping so we enjoyed everything, he was too young to have eggs that time too.  For the sauce, I kind of cheated.  I had leftover katsu sauce so not to waste, used it.

Kwek-kwek is for quail eggs and for chicken eggs, it's called tokneneng.  Why?  I honestly don't know how it came to be.  Perhaps I should research about it.  Here's a sample recipe in case you want to try making your very own.  Any kind of sauce can be used, preferably sour or sweet and sour.  Some use vinegar with chopped onions and garlic, sweet and sour sauce or soy sauce with lemon juice.  Be creative and use whichever suits your taste.

Ingredients (good for 4)

  • 1 dozen eggs, choose quail or chicken
  • cornflour for coating
  • bamboo skewer
  • oil for deep frying
  • Batter:
  • 1 cup plain flour
  • 1/2 cup water
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • red and yellow food colouring
  •  Sauce:
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar
  • 4 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 teaspoon soy sauce
  • Prep: 15 mins | Cook: 15 mins

When you have a baby, your normal outings will be for baby's fun and enjoyment.  Can you see J carrying that humongous bone to give to Clifford?  We went to enjoy the Clifford exhibit in Children's Discovery Museum with baby's buddy A.  It was a fun trip for the boys because instead of taking separate cars going to the museum, we opted to take the train.  That was baby's second train ride but generally speaking, his first long train ride.  We spent almost whole day there so it was pretty much tiring.

There was a Curious George meet and greet event in Santana Row one time so we went there to see and have some photos.  Baby J loves George and he was so delighted to see him.  The line was too long for us to wait, he was happy already looking from a distance.  If we were to wait that will be more of trouble, having an impatient toddler under the scorching sun is never a good idea.  He was able to see George up close but no photo opportunity, had to find a nice spot from afar to have both baby and George on screenshot.

Baby J loves to imitate and re-enact this scene from Totoro.  So funny when he copies Mei losing balance and almost falling down.  He would say "wo-wo-woooh" as he balances on one foot waving his hands up on the air.

Fall has arrived and it's starting to get breezier and cooler outdoors.  You can notice the leaves starting to change colors and some even falling off from the trees already.  The streets will be once again full of fallen leaves in no time, kids will be having fun jumping over stacks of leaves as if it's a pool of water.

Speaking of pools, it is advisable to keep the pools covered during this season.  Pools might be the perfect place to dump all the fallen leaves though this can pose a great hazard to kids.  This doesn't apply to ground pools alone but also above ground pools which are not collapsible or can not be stowed away.

Leaves unlike water isn't clear and if by any chance of accident a kid falls into a pool full of leaves, you have less chances of noticing or seeing the kid instantly.  Installing above ground pool covers and ground pool covers can minimize such hazard to curious and playful kids.  Though this kind of incident might not be very common to all, having the right precaution can be a good practice.  Nobody knows when an accident can occur and it's not worth the trouble and risk.

One sunny morning mom, dad, baby & I went to the community center to visit the track & field and show them what we have here at the community center. They saw the tennis courts, football/soccer field, community halls & rooms, pool, gymnasium and the theater. We first went to the track and they made some rounds also tried some of the fitness equipment there. After that we just walked around and snapped some photos around the heritage theater area. Mom and dad loved all the flowers in bloom, they couldn't resist posing almost for each and every flower they see.

One of the things I failed to do for mom and dad was to get them to watch live concert or other kind of show in Heritage Theater. Although they had the opportunity to walk around with me and baby one morning and have some photos taken there, the experience could've been better if they get to see something there. I think next time around they can have the pleasure of doing that.

I did check the upcoming shows but none were good for the time they are staying here. Only if the Cirque de Soleil was scheduled then I could've purchased tickets for them right away. I believe that's a great show to see. They both love musicals and live shows so ideally getting Mary Poppins tickets, John Edward tickets, Dave Matthews Band tickets, Lewis Black tickets or Million Dollar Quartet tickets could've been great.

Something gold is what I got for mom's mother's day & birthday present. Nothing like gold bars or bullion, in fact it's not even near how much a gold price would cost. What is it then? It's a gold accent jewelry gift set with matching earrings and necklace. Too bad I didn't even had the chance to take a photo since I was too excited to give it to her right away the moment it was delivered.

I love giving accessories and jewelries to mom, she wears it all the time. It doesn't matter for her if I buy gold, silver, swarovski or pearl accessories as long as it's from me she'll be so happy. It's been a while since I last gave her a gift like that, good thing that I saw the perfect gift for her. For me having her to wear any of the things I gave can always make her feel my presence. I'll always be with her no matter how far we are from each other.

Miraculous indeed how this strong baby girl in her pink bear suit survived the tsunami when she was swept away from her parents' arms. If not because of her cry she could've never been found and because of her rescue there's a new hope to find more survivors. The baby was shortly reunited with her mother and father who both survived the tsunami.

Japan's all over the news whether it's online or on television. I feel bad whenever I see the devastation and learn more about the impeding danger of the failing nuclear plant. It literally breaks my heart seeing all the chaos out there, nothing much I can do but pray and probably contribute even a little donation for the relief operations. Right after seeing this headline online I quickly read the full story and finally I found myself smiling for this great news.

Our Lady of Perpetual Help,

you have been blessed and favored by God.

You became not only the Mother of the Redeemer

but the Mother of the redeemed as well.

We come to you today as your loving children.

Watch over us and take care of us.

As you held the child Jesus in your loving arms,

so take us in your arms.

Be a mother ready at every moment to help us.

For God who is mighty has done great things for you,

and His mercy is from age to age on those who love Him.

Our greatest fear is that in time of temptation,

we may fail to call out to you, and become lost children.

Intercede for us, dear Mother, in obtaining pardon for our sins,
love for Jesus, final perseverance,
and the grace always to call upon you,

Our Mother of Perpetual Help, pray for us!

Amen.

I've got so many photos of baby J but I so happened to see these 3 poses which I think are so cute! He's so occupied looking at something else and didn't recognize mommy snapping away. The poses look like he's modeling, don't you agree?

Our boy has grown so much over the past 11mos & 3wks, he's very active and alert and curious with everything. I love hearing him call me and daddy, I love seeing him mess around with his toys and take over the whole apartment. He acts like he owns everything, a little baby but s full of character.

He's very charming according to many people we get to encounter whenever we go out for our walks. How can mommy and daddy not be so proud with people (even strangers) saying he's such a very handsome boy!?

It's been well announced here about our plans of buying our very own house, if you are thinking we finally have it sad to say not yet. We're still on the planning stage but more or less we have a more definite timeline when we're really eyeing on acquiring one. We're really very eager to take the leap on this big commitment.

I have been checking out the neighborhood and so far so many houses and condos here are for sale. Unfortunately we're not yet ready and also the prices in this specific neighborhood is quite higher than other areas. It will require more savings and longer time to pay off the house if we push on getting it here.

Not only that we're financially unprepared yet but also lacking knowledge about mortgages for first time buyers. I need to study more about mortgage rates to better understand the deals of buying a house and loans. We will definitely need to loan for the purchase and knowing the ins and outs of first time buyer mortgages can be beneficial on our part. I just hope the market will still be good for us to buy our house in time.
