Ayie
Don't you just love it when you receive sweet sincere smile from people?!

Most people would judge me at first as snob if they don't see me smiling most especially during college days when I had my "metal days". Do you get what I mean? Oh well this was how I looked back then during 4th yr college onwards til I had those braces off....

All 3 of us my bro,me & sis had braces, you can tell our genes didn't get much blessings of having a good teeth alignment. My case was my jaw being so small that the dentist had to take out 4 healthy teeth to give space for the alignment. Dad wanted us to undergo such cosmetic dentistry at least while we're still young so it won't be too painful though I have to admit it was a lot of pain having the braces installed plus the first months feeling the teeth moving and adjusting to places. I think the most painful part was when the wires skewers to the inner cheeks. I remember eating just avocado with milk, plain congee or any soup for my first months because of the pain chewing or even biting anything. Honestly I wouldn't mind if my teeth won't be perfectly aligned as long as I have gum full healthy teeth complete, I am not a vain person anyway. =P

...after braces just retainers...

I tried some kind of veneer (I think it was due to curiosity) also but that time it wasn't as sophisticated as what we have nowadays. It felt like some kind of prosthetic thing stuffed in your mouth, very uncomfortable and ugly too so plain wire retainers is just fine. It was intended as a retainer but honestly it's impractical for such purpose because even after braces were taken off some adjustments still occur. That thing was molded and no room for adjustments. Oh well I think that time dental veneers were not commonly used or introduced yet.

Among all other cosmetic procedures out there maybe something that has to do with the teeth is all I can consider not unless there's a life to death call for other procedures then there should be a good consideration =P What's your stand about such medical procedures? Anything you want to be "altered" for vanity's sake?

  3. lina Says:

All sweet smiles in the photos Ayie. :)

Well, for me... I only altered my hair. I'm not blessed with a straight hair and I love them straight so it's rebonding for me twice a year! LOL Does that count. ;)

  4. Ayie Says:

    Lina,

Hi Lina! And i thought it has always been straight just looking at your photos! It's still another alteration so i think it can be counted! lol! I'm afraid of having my hair rebonded coz of the chemicals and it's really sensitive. Just only thinking because my hair isn't as straight as how it used to be =P

Hey girl! I did braces too when I was young! And I know what you mean by days of congee and liquid food! Argh... Thank God it's over! But it was all worth it. ;)

  6. Tekkaus Says:

Metal days? Haha :D Braces is it? :p Nope, you look equally good too with your metals on Ayie.

  7. Ayie Says:

    Witch,

You too? I was darn painful right? It's all worth it I agree, I saw your ROM pics earlier when I went to your blog. We won't have the nice smile if it wasn't fixed =P

  8. Ayie Says:

    Tekkaus,

Awww, thanks Tekkaus =) I wish I can look equally good as age comes too! haha!

  9. levian Says:

i had my metal days during highschool. took me so many years to have it removed. instead of 4, i had 2 teeth removed. same problem as ours, too much calcium since young yet too small a jaw to hold all those teeth. XD but all in all, things turned out well n i too have a tidy set of teeth now. :)

  10. Ayie Says:

    Levian,

You had it earlier then. I had mine quite late because price in earlier years was tad bit too high, impractical for all of us to have at once.

  11. Carver Says:

Great shots and lovely smiles. I wore braces during much of my youth.

  12. Ayie Says:

    Carver,

Thank you dear =) Wow so many of us had the metal days =P not so surprising though

I love it.. it is so warm, so real and so sweet! ^_^

I never got braces for my teeth, can't afford it... so what goes? My family have all our natural grown teeth... I can say my is fine without any... besides, I believe I am content with myself other than being fat :P.

  28. Ice Says:

I don't have good teeth alignment too, but I didn't bother getting braces though.

I bet now you have a fantastic smile! :o)

  29. Glennis Says:

I have not had any procedures done, I am so pleased to say, but some people really do need their teeth seeing to, a nice smile is important.

  30. levian Says:

i went for the government ones. only need to pay a few dollars (for record sake). that's why it took much longer for appointments n putting on the metal, etc. the waiting part was what caused many to prefer private instead of going to the government clinic. :)

  31. Ayie Says:

    SK,

That smile has yet to come this February =)

  32. Ayie Says:

    SJ,

    Thanks, keep smiling!!

  33. Ayie Says:

    Mummy Sexy,

Ahhhh that's why! I didn't notice since I always see your close lips smile =)

  34. Ayie Says:

    Mariuca,

I'm trying to relax more now sweetie, thanks so much. I am thinking more of baby so I have to be good.

Just wear regular sunglasses, that will do you good than wishing for corrective glasses...not fun at all! I wish I can ditch my glasses sicne I've been wearing it at a very young age (10). Contacts won't be so good for me anymore as i don't feel too good wearing contacts anymore. Braces though are ouch too! Thanks for coming over and for your dear compliments =)

  35. Ayie Says:

    Foong,

Really? hehehe thanks =P It's ok braces or no braces, as long as you are comfortable with yourself.

  36. Ayie Says:

    Rainfield,

I must be thinking of happy thoughts those times =)

  37. Ayie Says:

    Anya,

    Aww, thanks Anya.

  38. Ayie Says:

    Ai,

That fantastic smile only comes out once in a while! haha! just kidding =P

  39. Ayie Says:

    Glennis,

Thanks for the visit! Good for you not having to do anything to yourself. I am happy with or without having the braces but it's also nice that my dad made me do it.

  40. Ayie Says:

    Levian,

That was fortunate of you to have that benefit. It's really good if you can cut cost with everything. Just the delay was the only setback but it turned out fine right?

  41. levian Says:

yes, fortunately things turned out fine. but they did have a slight miss when they ground my front tooth to make it smaller. it kinda leave a mark there on my tooth. it would have been perfect if the grinding did not take place. :)

  42. Anonymous Says:

I thought they used to call teeth braces as "metal mouth", but you looked fine and beautiful though. It didn't show that much!

  43. Ayie Says:

    Levian,

I never like grinding because it scrapes the tooth but if really needed then I can go with it.

  44. Ayie Says:

    Icy,

    Thank you dear!

  45. Bengbeng Says:

oh! for me there's too much to be altered for vanity's sake. where do i begin??? :D or end? :D

  46. Ayie Says:

    Bengbeng,

    Oh C'mon bengbeng!
